1.3.24 – haibun…family holidays

family holidays
feeling far away and lost
from sun and moon

Yesterday was the perihelion. I have to look up what that is. Earth, in its orbit around the sun, is at the closest point in the orbit, with the sun not resting in the elliptical center. So in fact, I was physically the closest to the sun this year, yet I felt so far away. Gray clouds have been filling the skies, and rain has fallen most days. The sun sneaks a peek out now and then. And… it has been family holiday time. Finally, all of us are under the family home roof. Focus, rhythms, and activities move to connection with others and celebrating. My morning wander-alone time, simply me with the sun and moon, slips away.
